For the greater part Saving Country Music is following the saga of a concert review printed by the alternative newsweekly in Baltimore called the Baltimore City Paper that painted a negative picture. Music reporter Travis Kitchens wrote the review in question after attending the Aldean concert at the Baltimore Arena. In accordance with Kitchens, he attended the concert having an open mind, wondering if he'd "make my conventional folkie buddies go insane" if he really loved the show. But Travis failed to love it, to say the least.
Ever since then, Baltimore City Paper continues to be in huge turmoil, with the remaining staff being locked from the newspaper's on-line interface, and eight workers being laid off.
The Jason Aldean review was taken down after being posted as a result of pressure from two large advertisers who said then would not advertise in City Paper if the bit was not pulled. "[They said] the review was 'not objective,' which was Absurd, since it turned out to be a review. It was view, clearly."
Both patrons that threatened City Paper were apparently LiveNationDC who promoted the Jason Aldean concert, and Baltimore-based Under Armour, Jason Aldean endorses and marketed whose Duck Commander product line.
Other City Paper content in addition has been censored, and according to numerous sources, the remaining workers of the newspaper happen to be locked from the news sites, and are being told to forfeit management of the social network properties of the paper.
